Dojo – Cho Donnelly Sensei

Sensei Donnelly started his training 40+ years ago with the art of Moo Da Kwon. After several years Sensei Donnelly traveled to Rockford Illinois to train with historic instructor Master Jung Moon Lee in the art of Tae Kwon Do. Master Lee trained directly under General Choi, the father of Tae Kwon Do. When Master Lee retired, Sensei Donnelly trained with Master Dukun Yun and Master Won Sun Jong from Rockford Ill. During this time Master Won Sun Jong added his Hapkido into Sensei Donnelly’s training regiment. Then, training began with the Aikido Association of America under Shihan Fumio Toyoda. Recently, Sensei Donnelly has trained with Master Philip Porter who is noted for his proficient in Judo and several other martial arts.

Sensei Donnelly is a State Certified (Ohio) Law Enforcement Instructor (with over 40 years experience) who teaches defensive tactics at several area police academies. Classes taught include, unarmed defense (including knife, club, gun), weapons retention, weapons defense, ASP tactical certified instructor, and all other requirements for Law Enforcement.

Sensei Donnelly is an internationally licensed instructor and is registered with the Aikido World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo in Japan). He is also certified with the Aikido Association of America. In addition, Sensei Donnelly served for many years as a local police officer.

As a native Toledoan, Sensei Donnelly has helped to expand the martial arts throughout the Toledo area. His diligent training and service to the community have led him to become an Ohio State Certified Law Enforcement Instructor who teaches defensive tactics at several area police academies. The classes that he teaches include; unarmed defense against knife, club, and gun, weapons retention, weapons defense, PR-24, ASP baton, and all other requirements for Law Enforcement.

Sensei Donnelly was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2005 and carries Dan ranks in the following disciplines:

Tae Kwon Do / Karate do (8th Degree)
Jujitsu – Sandan (4th Degree)
Hopkido – Sandan (3rd Degree)
Aikido – Yondan (6th Degree)
Judo – Sandan (4th Degree)

Sensei Gray Sr. has 35+ years of Martial Arts Experience and holds the following Dan ranks:

Sensei Gray is a member of the Aikido Association of America, Goju Ryu Karate Do Kyokai, United States Judo Association, and the United States Martial Arts Association. In addition, Sensei Gray is a certified Judo Examiner (USSA) and holds a Renshi Certificate in Karate. He is a ground-fighting instructor with the Owens Police Academy.
